The reason why sperm freezing is the most effective freezing technique today is that it is the oldest applied technique and the presence of millions of live sperm in a single ejaculate taken from a healthy adult male. However, while collecting sperm, some rules must be followed:

1. Sperm cells must be collected during sexual abstinence within 2-5 days. Collecting sperm cells earlier than the specified period significantly decreases the sperm count; collecting sperm cells later than the specified period may increase the number of dead and abnormal sperm cells which may affect the other healthy sperm cells.
2. Sperm cells must be collected via masturbation in the center where the procedure will be carried out.
3. Sperm cells should be ejaculated into a sterile plastic container with a lid.
